If you have ever cooked, baked, grilled, or fried something before, odds are you used olive oil in the process. It is a household staple that comes in many shapes, sizes, and brands, and Chef Emily Lycopolus is the expert when it comes to this key kitchen element.

On April 23rd, 2018, Chef Emily, owner of Olive the Senses tasting room in British Columbia, Canada, joined Oakmont Olive Oil Company at the Mighty Oak Barrel in Oakmont, PA for a special, limited seating cooking class and dinner.

Chef Emily educated guests on how to properly taste and use various types of olive oil and balsamic vinegars. Guests also got to enjoy a menu created by Emily herself which included Oakmont Olive Oil Company’s Award-Winning Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars.

The menu was prepared by the chefs at The Mighty Oak Barrel and included guest’s choice of:

STARTERS
• TOMATO BRUSCHETTA
• ROASTED OLIVE TAPENADE
• DEEP DISH FOCOCCIA BREAD

SOUP/SALAD
GRILLED CESAR SALAD
• ITALIAN WEDDING SOUP

PASTA
ORECCHIETTA CARBONARA
WITH SPRING PEAS & PANCETTA
• HOMEMADE GREMOLATA
WITH FRESH LINGUINI

MAIN
• CREAMY POLENTA WITH ROASTED
MUSHROOMS & SHAVED PARMESAN
BEEF CACCIATORE

The event lasted two hours and was a great time for all.  We are looking forward to another event with Emily in the future as this one was sold out nearly three weeks before it took place.

Chef Emily has published several cookbooks.  Her most successful title is “The Olive Oil and Vinegar Lovers Cookbook”.  She has also published titles offering a different spin on different cultural cooking.
